FACE: Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub

When your face scrub smells like sweeties… In particular ‘Love Hearts‘ what are you going to do?
Well obviously my dear I’m going to use it on my face and try very very hard not to eat it! #thestruggleisreal

I’m a fan of Sukin products have been for  a while, I especially love their foaming cleansers which I have written about here.  During an inpromptu visit to Holland and Barratt I find this little gem…

To put it simply, this is a really nice facial scrub, not just because of the scent!  It is sulphate and paraben free – which I know, I know nearly ever product these days claims to be “free” of this and that …because it’s just cool right? however after using this product my face doesn’t feel stripped of natural oils and feels really refreshed.

It’s a beady little scrub (jojoba beads and ground bamboo to be exact), whilst I know facial scrubs can be harsh on the skin if over used, I only use mine once a week.  The beads do appear to help lift the invisible layer of weekly grime from my skin.

Why is it called ‘super greens’ well this facial scrub is packed full of my faves – Kale, Sprulina and Parsley.  Yep that’s right the same stuff you’d add to a green smoothie!!

Here’s the info on the back of the product packaging:

Everything about this products makes me happy – the scent, the packaging, the colour of the packaging, the ingredients.  Well done Sukin your on to a winner with this one!

BEAUTY: Aztec Indian Healing Clay

I’ve been like a kid with a new toy this past weekend!  ‘Playing’ with a new beauty product ….I purchased the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay.

So ok, I know, I know I’m LATE to this Bentonite clay party! Don’t judge me…

I have heard great things about this product all over the Internet-web so of course I wanted to give it go myself.
The mask comes packaged in its original powdery state, which whilst I ‘get’ it being that’s it’s a natural product….I had a momentary eye roll moment because I just wanted to get the stuff on my face without the extra faff of sourcing ‘equipment’ to mix up the concoction.

So with glass jar and plastic spoon at hand, a teaspoon of the clay powder I got to mixing this two different ways on two different occasions.

The clay powder mixed with Apple cyder vinegar:

Using the mask powder with Sainsburys Aspinalls cyder vinger, whilst I felt the mask did its job it dries almost at the same rate as your conventional pre mixed mask.  Drying time was about 15-20 mins.  The smell… Somewhat vinegary with a tinge of egg… a tad abnoctious, but doable.

The clay powder mixed with water:

Whoa! Completely difference in how my face felt and how the clay dries.  The mask gets to work instantly with drying and boy oh boy can you feel it!! It almost had for an itchy sensation for a moment.  I could feel it tightening those pores (mwah ha ha ha) which is never a bad thing.  Drying time was about 10 mins.  The smell …. Again that eggy whiff.

With the clay mask used both ways… It definetly lives up to the ‘feel your face pulsate’ claim.  It is the most strangest feeling ever, however more so intense when the clay is mixed with plain water.  I’d say if there’s a reason to buy this mask its for that party trick alone.

So did it make a difference? Yes! I’m pleased to say this is one mask I won’t be turning my back on in a hurry.  My skin feels baby soft after use and the next day is positively glowing.

There are many uses for Bentonite clay – it’s widely known for its healing properties and ability to remove toxins.  There are multiple uses for it, which I’m steadily reading up and learning about.

So lastly to conclude I’m sure you’ve guessed I love this mask, I picked mine up on Amazon for just under £10, however I’m sure it’s also available from most other good beauty web stores.

Have you tried Aztec secret Indian healing clay, if so how have you used it and what where your results?

Feel free to share!

BEAUTY: Dr Organics Hemp Seed Oil Skin Lotion – Part 1

For a while I’ve been suffering with quite dry skin.  Mostly on my legs and I have failed at finding a way of keeping the moisture over the past few months.  Winter is not my friend!

I’m not sure if this product will improve the situation, but I’m giving it a go – so this blog post will be in two parts!
I purchased the Dr Organics Hemp Seed Oil Skin lotion from Holland and Barratt today (cost £7.59).  The skin lotion was introduced to me by a friend who gave me a little to try.   My initial thoughts….I liked the texture and moisture so thought I would give it a whirl!

So this is just a short blog post this evening (it’s been a long day!) just to say… (Cue the arnie terminator style voice) “I’ll be back” with a full review of my thoughts as to whether I feel this skin lotion lives up to products claims and adds any improvements to my skin.

Have you tried the Dr Organics Hemp Seed Oil skin lotion.  If so I would be interested to hear your thoughts

FACE: Mrs Frisbees All Naturals Facial Wash

So Im going to get straight to the point.  I have a love / dislike relationship with the Mrs Frisbees All Naturals Facial Wash.

I have been using this product for little under two weeks now, and purchased it from Amazon at the cost of £8.

However I find that everytime I use the facial wash which has been twice a day…. I either wince or better still hold my breathe momentarily to prevent breathing in the scent.  In my personal opinion it’s just that little bit too over powering and strong almost to the point that I most likely wouldn’t purchase it again despite feeling that the product has been an absolute dream in cleansing and cleaning my face without the stripping feeling.

The product contains roman chamomile and sea buckthorn oil.  Sea buckthorn oil is known from its healing and rejuvenating properties whilst chamomile is known for its calming properties… However I just can’t get passed the scent.  Normally I actually like the scent of chamomile, however with this product it is completely over taken by the sea buckthorn oil!

That said, the product comes nicely packaged.  Dark blue plastic bottle which is great for natural products and helps to reserve their life span, and on the bottom the expiry date is also printed.

Whilst this product didn’t quite suit me, there are others in the range of products by Mrs Frisbees, so maybe in the future I’ll try something else with scents that I much prefer.  I’ll keep using this facial wash (with a washing peg on my nose) until it’s used up – as I don’t believe it waste.

I’d be interested to hear if you have tried any of the other products from Mrs Frisbees range …Are there any that you can recommend?

BEAUTY: Montagne Jeunesse Black Raspberry Body Scrub

Browsing as one does through the beauty section in TKMaxx, I stumbled upon the Montagne Jeunesse Black Raspberry Body Scrub.

I was intrguied to try this product, purely because I only really know this brand for selling an extremely wide range of face masks… In the UK they tend to be found in most good supermarkets and pharmacists …. So at the mere price of £2.99.  I thought I should give it a try as my body scrub supply game is well and truely  lacking.

I’m absolutely in love with the scent of this body scrub.  It definitely smells like raspberries, to be more accurate very much like the ‘Frutella’ brand of sweets.  Not too over powering sweet though, the scent level is just right.

The consistency of the product is extremely thick and creamy (not runny) a little goes a long way.

The grains in the scrub resemble the grains on strawberries however I don’t believe they are as the packaging confirms its ‘jam packed with juicy and sweet Black Raspberries and Grape’.

The body scrub is suitable for vegetarians (vegetarian society approved!) and proudly mentions that it’s cruelty free.  Which is another plus!

This scrub definitely does a greatjob at  removing dead skin cells as my skin is smooth after use.

All in all I like this scrub for the fact that it does what it says, it smells great and, provides me with smooth skin after use.

Have you used Montagne Jeunesse products – which ones are your favourites?

LIFESTYLE: BLOC Hotel Gatwick

A few months ago, I needed to find a hotel to stay in which was close to the airport….

Why did the hotel need to be so close to the airport I hear you ask? well, because of the stupidly early time I decided to book flights for a one day overseas trip.

I found said hotel….BLOC hotel Gatwick…. your my new favourite friend!

Let me share your spleandor with my friends…

As you can probably tell, I’m a sucker for detail, nice finishing touches and artsy fartsy angles…

Aren’t these hangers the best!

Another nice touch, a neat little cloth bag contained the hair dryer.

In the bathroom – Zenology complimentary bathing products….Might I add these products contain no nasty chemicals!

The bathroom contains a shower, sink and toilet – which doubles up as a wet room, again comfortable in size but spotlessly clean so I had no complaints.
The rooms floor space is a small but comfortable square room.

Oh and did I mention It’s perfectly placed on the airport terminal for those stupidly early flights which you never know when you may need to take….

Happy Easter all, thanks for reading….

FACE: Sukin Foaming Face Cleanser

Hey, I bet you didn’t think you’d see me here again so quickly.  Like I mentioned in my previous post I’m working on the adjustments needed to allow blogging to become more regular.

So in this post I’m sharing my thoughts on the Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser which has become a facial skin care staple of mine.

First introduced to me by the lovely people at Balwins.  Once I used the bottle I was originally sent (last year!),  I have been repurchasing this ever since.

It’s a clear gel liquid formula which as the title of the product describes produces a ‘foaming’ consistency when applied with water.

I use this two ways.

When I need to remove a full makeup face, I add the product straight into my hands without water, work into a creamy consistency, add it to my face, work it in, then either wash off with warm water or use a dampened face cloth to gently remove.

On bare faced or minimal make up days, I apply the gel to hands and work it into my already dampned face and then remove with warm water.  Both ways are very effective.
What I love most about this product is the fact that it contains no nasties – look!

Also it’s packaging is very handy in shape.  You are able to get all of the product out without any waste.  Pump bottles tend to be a nuisance so I generally avoid these if I can!

The cost is around £8 – which I think is a reasonable price for a good quality skincare product.

The products ingredients contains Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Green Tea Extract, Witch Hazel, Evening Primrose Oil, Macadamia Oil.

All in all Im happy with this cleanser.  My face is left feeling – most importantly clean, fresh with a non-tightening or stripping feeling.  The scent of the product is non offensive.

Sukin have a full range of products which I’m interested in, however I’m keen to hear if any of you have tried them? Feel free to leave your comments below.
