FACE: Makeup essentials for the working week

I wake up the majority of mornings around 5-5:30am, I have myself and mini-me to get ready ….so as time is of the essence I really don’t have much time to spend on my makeup routine, I do have a few items which have become my staples and ensure I look half way decent for the corporate environment.

I do like to experiment with other products from time to time, and in the summer I do have a complete shake up of things. The list below are the items which are always used at the moment …

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – This concealer is as the title suggests creamy and smooth and when paired with a good eye cream (the eye cream I use is mentioned in this post) it does a good job of hiding blemishes, and under eye darks circles. I like that the concealer is buildable so it can be worn as light or as heavy as I need it and it also doubles up as a good highlighter too! My shade is Amande. I am told the trick with concealer is to go one or two shades lighter than your normal skin tone which seems to work for me.

MAC Studio Fix – I love this stuff. It’s like a foundation and powder in one. I first came into contact with it when I had my makeup done at MAC as a tester for my wedding. Again this is another buildable product which gives your face a really nice smooth base. You just have to be careful not to apply to much otherwise you can end up with a cakey looking face. My shade is NC46.

Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip liner – This has got to be one of my best finds for 2013. I came into contact with after reviewing a YouTube video by Fleur de Force. It applies like a felt tip pen, and stays put all day. I have it in the colour black which is very deep and rich in texture and gives a very crisp and perfected winged eye look.

Barry M Lip Liner – I line my lips with this brown Barry M lip liner, which I like to ensure blends in with my lipstick. The liner add definition to my lips.

MAC Lipstick – I tend to keep things fairly simple for work and this lipstick does just the trick. The shade is called Syrup and I think this would suit any skin tone. It’s a very neutral tone …. It just works, it has pink / brown undertones.

I pair the lipstick with this lipgloss – sorry I don’t know the brand it’s either MUA by Superdrug or NYC.

Sleek Blush – Now I think this blusher is very similar to the NARS Orgasm blusher (slightly less shimmery, and a fraction of the price). It has gold, pink and bronze undertones and in any weather gives my cheeks a shimmery warmth. The shade is called: Sunrise.

Maybelline Masacara – So I talked about my recent fail trying another brand of mascara here, I generally use either the Great Lash or Colossal mascara. I saw the words New! next to this Mega Plush Volum’ Express mascara today so I bought it. I have no doubt I won’t love it and plan to do a review on it tomorrow with before and after pics.

Lastly for my eyebrows, I have slightly thicker brows so they tend to be low maintenance and I like the shape so I am half way there, I use a really cheap brow pencil in the colour brown to avoid them looking to harsh when lightly filling them in.

What daily makeup staples do you use?

Thanks for reading. Toodlepip!
