FACE: Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye

Change of job. Change in routine. More Travel.  I felt like my skin needed rescuing during the month of August … But more so the tiredness was starting to show around my eye area – fine lines and a generally drier appearance, I know this because of the dreaded undereye concealer creasing I got throughout my days at work etc.

I have recently purchased Kiehls Midnight Recovery Eye to see what ‘repair’ I could do topically, alongside upping my water intake.

I’m pleased with the results!

Actually I’m more than pleased with the results, I often feel it does take time for creams, lotions and potions to adjust to my skin before I see the results.  That being also true because of how skin is constantly renewing and repairing itself.  Personally for me, I feel this eye cream lived up to its claims.
Within days … Yes that’s right days, the fine lines presented more of a softer appearance and the dreaded concealer creasing – See ya!

So the serous bit what’s in this ‘magical’ cream, here’s the product description from the Kiehls website:

Specifically formulated for the delicate under-eye area to achieve fresher, younger looking eyes by morning by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Formulated with Butcher’s Broom, Squalane, Evening Primrose and Lavender.

Paraben-free, fragrance-free, mineral oil-free.

Now the ingredients:

Water, Helianthus Annuus Seed/Oil/Sunflower Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil/ Jojoba Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil/Apricot Kernel Oil, Squalane, Alcohol Denat., Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Oenothera Biennis Oil/Evening Primrose Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Shea Butter, Lithium Magnesium Sodium Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Xanthan Gum, Ruscus Aculeatus Extract/Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis/Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Tocopherol, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil/Lavender Oil, Adenosine, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil/Rosemary Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citronellol, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Geraniol, Linalool, Cucumis Sativus Extract/Cucumber Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa Extract/Turmeric Root Extract, Curcuma Longa Extract/Turmeric Root Extract, Sclareolide, Rosa SPP/Rose Flower Oil, Jasminum Officinale Extract/Jasmine Extract

So what’s not so good about about the product you ask….?

Ahem….The packaging.

Whilst I love the fact that I’m not dipping my fingers into a pot, just a little squeeze on the tube and a dot of cream is all that is required.

The nozzle on the tube is too narrow(or the one I purchased)  I had to keep fighting with it to get the cream out!

On one attempt I ended up over squeezing the tube and wasting some cream as it projectiled across the other side of the room in a bid for freedom. Seriously.  I then with brute force took to the scissors and snipped the end of the nozzle a couple of times. This did the trick!
All in all I would recommend this eye cream and will definitely repurchase it.   The price tag is fair at £24.50, I purchased mine from SpaceNK.

Kiehls if you ever so happen to read this… Please please make an adjustment to the nozzle on the tube.

Anywho that’s all for now…

Thankyou 2014 / Welcome 2015

I have been having a little break over the past few weeks hence the lack of posts, but thought it necessary to check in on the eve of another New Year.

I started this blog as a hobby and whilst it still remains so I didn’t imagine anyone would be remotely interested in what I have to say? I know most bloggers say this – but I really didn’t..

Every ‘ding’ notification sound from my iPad or phone when someone has either liked a post or comments still fills me with the same excitement on day one of my blog and never grows old…

I have had some great experiences over the past year, met and connected with some lovely people, connected with some lovely and generous brands – long may this continue!

So to you lovely people who receive my posts by email, are subscribed via WP or if you happen to check in only from time to time – a big THANK YOU for the continue support!

I know I am not the most consistent with posting, this is mainly due to me wanting posts to be interesting to read… Also life ‘paid job’ and ‘family life’ gets busy sometimes.

I am full of anticipation for a positive year for 2015, to keep things fresh on the blog there will be a few subtle changes (don’t worry there will still be style, beauty and lifestyle posts) …

Happy New Year all!

Thanks …as always for reading …

Would you rather? The Beauty edition…

I was tagged by the lovely Sarah a few weeks ago to answer a few beauty dilemma questions….

I’m a bit late with answering the questions – sorry!

Would you rather chop all of your hair off or never be able to cut it again?

Short hair doesn’t suit me so hands down I would be happy to surrender scissors and never get my hair cut again.

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lipgloss or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

My lashes need length which is what mascara provides, plus an unglossed lip on me – no bueno!

Would you rather have coral cheeks or pink cheeks?

Coral, looks better with my skin tone.  I’m a fan of sleek blusher in the colour ‘Sunrise’.

If you had £1000 to spend would you rather buy clothes or make up?

OOOOH! How do I choose…. Erm easy! £500 in clothes £500 on makeup – does that count?

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

Eyeliner as lipstick, the thought of using lipstick around my eyes makes my stomach turn!

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Sephora, oh and they now have international shipping although at the moment trying to resist the urge.

Would you rather use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

Lip colour and it would be MAC the colour is ‘Syrup’.

Would you rather wear winter clothes in Summer or Summer clothes in Winter?

Summer clothes in the winter but I’d obviously have to layer up depending on what I wore.

Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Bright nails, dark nails I get quite bored with very quickly and I don’t really think they suit me so well.

Would you rather give up your favourite lip colour or your favourite eye product?

Favourite eye product…. The lip product would be staying, there’s a theme developing here!

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony or a messy bun?

I wear a bun the majority of the time for work.  I’m currently going through a ‘situation’ with my hair which is relaxed, I’m trying to use as little heat in it was possible to reduce breakage, retain length and bring about more healthy hair ….so far going well!

Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

I could live without my nails bring painted…again …..the lipgloss wins! I’m so predictable …

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in every day?

Sharpie them in, I love a good thick ‘scouse’  brow it frames the face so well.
Would you rather live without make up or nail polish?

I could live without nail polish, the makeup would need to stay ….the item I rely on the most is my Nar Creamy Concealer….it helps with my mummy eye dark circles, and helps me look more awake!

There you have it!

I won’t tag any one especially however if you like the questions and fancy taking part, I would love to see your responses so add a link to your post in the comments.

Weleda Insight Day event

Yesterday was everything I expected it to be and more!

If you were following my Instagram and Twitter accounts I absolutely flooded my timeline with pictures and tweets about my attendance to the #Weledainsightdays.

As mentioned in this post I hinted about an exciting opportunity, and this was that… on Friday 13th June 2014 after a long day at work and a routine check of my inbox I stumbled upon an invitation to visit Weleda!  #Beyond pleased….#absolutely!

We were blessed with an absolute stunner for sunny weather yesterday, the invitation from Weleda advised to come casually dressed.  I opted to wear a crisp pale blue shirt with sleeves rolled up for a less formal look, paired with jeans (both pieces from Zara) and my comfy sandals (can’t remember where I got these from!).

I arrived on time for once, despite the traffic enroute being horrendous from where I live….

I arrived at the trademark pink Weleda building. Once I parked my car, registered, I received a very warm welcome from the staff at Weleda.  They are a real happy bunch of people (with amazing skin!), I figure it’s probably because they know they have pretty fabulous jobs working with amazing products in a beautiful setting and tranquil environment.

We received a friendly welcome from the Head of Marketing and the Itinary for the day – first stop a mini bus to Weleda fields.

We took a walk through the gardens where the flowers and plants are grown, and received a talk from one of the lead gardeners who was a fountain of information.

Past towering Birch trees…

Through the Spring Meadow…

Next up a demonstration on Calendula Tincture making …

Back on the bus to the HQ and a spot of lunch…

We received a fun but educational talk on the differences between mineral oil vs natural oil with a chance to try and test the differences, we were also shown an apple which had been cleansed using a very well know brand – which made the apple blemished to show the effects of how harmful unnatural products can be to the skin…

Then we had a chance to start playing and testing existing and soon to launch Weleda products….

Last stop, Weleda generously gave all attendees goodie bags … With a couple of their new soon to launch products to take home!

I also purchased a couple of items I have been lusting for too….I will be trying these out and sharing my thoughts in upcoming posts.

I cannot put into words, how impressed I was with the Weleda insight day, I had a thoroughly enjoyable time and also got to meet a few other fellow bloggers which was also great too!

To Weleda UK if you so happen to be reading this, thankyou so so much for allowing me the opportunity to visit, and learn some really invaluable information…

Tag: The 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

So quite shamefully I have to admit I was tagged by the lovely Deborah Says Beauty nearly a month ago. Here’s were I share with you my sins of beauty…. Hmmm I suppose me over spending at a MAC counter is pretty sinful…. But oh so worth it. So here goes:

Greed: Whats your most expensive beauty item?
At the moment it’s my My Naked 3 palette read about it here! But oh how I love it so. DEFINITELY a worth while purchase the shades are super pigmented with gorgeous lasting shimmer.

Wrath: What do you have a strong / love hate relationship with?
Loreal Glam Shine Stain some days I love it especially in the colour 300 Juliet as I feel it looks great against my skin tone, others day I feel it can be quite drying and makes my lips flaky over times, also the more neutral colours on me can look a tad watery and bland on my lips.

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?
So I am a secret Dermalogica hoarder! I have used it for years and it’s kind of like my security blanket. I tend to rotate between a few staple products from their range when I feel my skin needs a good sorting out and after experimenting with other products which haven’t quite agreed with my skin. I will blog my Dermalogica recommendations soon!

Sloth: What product do you ignore the most due to laziness?
At the moment it’s blush. I don’t know why …perhaps its the weather or the very fact that I have been using and repurchasing this same shade of Sleek blush in shade sunrise for a while…. I think I need to change it up.

Pride: which product gives you the most confidence?
Definitely my NARS concealer. As I usually wear make up for my day job, on weekends I do like to let my skin breathe. So whilst I still want to look half way decent and because with an energetic mini me to tend to I don’t have the time to apply it / nor do I want to spend excessive amount of time applying makeup when I already do so on weekdays. That said concealer is my best friend and I would feel completely lost with out it. Providing I have use of this I am more than happy to face the world with my mommy ‘somewhat sleep deprived’ eye bags well and truly covered.

Lust: What item is at the top of your list?
Again its concealer …. For the reasons described above.

Envy: Which product / look looks great on other but not on you?
Eyeliner. My eyes just do not get the concept of wearing eyeliner well, I just don’t know why? That’s all.

So to spread the tag love Themakeupwhisperer, Mua by Nikki, Amuleta Beauty, Sarah Loves Makeup and by no means least Frostings and Style do fancy joining in? no pressure though here peeps (and providing you haven’t already done this tag). If you do respond to the tag I would love it if you could link your post to mine by way of comment so I can read them.
