BEAUTY | Weleda White Mallow Face Cream and Lotion

Weleda products are still a firm favourite within my household I have blogged about this here, here and here.

What I love most about Weleda is the ability to use their products in the Baby range and not feel like I’m using a watered down version.

I have recently incorporated one of Weleda’s newest products – the Baby Derma White Mallow face cream into my facial skin care routine.  I received a sample of the White Mallow face cream when I attended the Weleda Insight Day back in June.

I have been using the cream on and off for the past few months, more so as a treatment to soothe sporadic skin irritation that I get, it does a good job of calming my skin down a treat!

The face cream has no scent which isn’t a deal breaker (just something I have become too accustomed to with other products).  The texture of the cream is non oily and non sticky and leaves my skin feeling hydrated after use.

The ingredients found in the cream are natural extracts of White Mallow and Pansy which aid with soothing skin irritations, sesame and coconut oil which provides the nourishing moisture to the skin.

So here comes the exciting news! I’ve teamed up with Weleda for one of my lucky readers to win the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Face Cream and Body Lotion.

FACE | G.Baldwins Natural Skincare – Review

Ok so I’m not sure what planet I have been on, and how on earth I hadn’t found out about – G.Baldwins & Co before….I’m just glad I know now.

I am always keen to seek out companies that sell natural skin care due to the long term benefits they provide.

G.Baldwins & Co has an online store and a store in London, which happens to be one of the oldest and most established herbalists. They sell their own products as well as an extensive list of other natural skin care brands, aromatherapy oils, supplements, food, drink and household items – so it’s on my must visit list for when I’m next in the capital!

I’m giving a couple of items a try to assist to my recent woes of my problematics skin.

Pomegranate, Bilberry and Rose cleanser* with White Clay, Papaya and Passion Seed Oil.

This cleanser is very rich and very creamy, you only need one pump which you work into your face before removing either with a warm cloth or by washing off with warm water. On the bottle it confirms the ingredients are a blend of kaolin ( which happens to be great for acne, inflammation and has been used by many for years), papaya and extracts of red clover to assist with removing daily face grime, excess oils and makeup to leave the face radiant and bright – I have high hopes! Once the product is removed my skin is left with a moisturised feel and so hence the next product is appropriate with helping to remove any residue.

Pomegranate, Bilberry and Rose Floral Waters* with Cucumber and Aloe Vera.

Essentially this is a clear water like solution which I use after removal of the cleanser. With a little applied to a cotton pad, I apply to my face with a gentle sweeping motion. On the bottle its confirms the ingredients are aloe vera juice, extracts of cucumber and organic witch hazel which is supposed to leave the face feeling fresh and naturally moisturised. I can say it does I also experienced a slight tingling sensation after use the first time around.

Both products smell absolutely heavenly!  I really love the smell of Rose in skin care, and find that both products do well with not being too overpowering, it’s just more of a luxurious spa like scent.

The packaging is different to a lot of brands out there at the moment, it’s very distinctive and really sets them apart from the rest and really looks great in my bathroom.

It’s very early days for me using both products, in the first few days so far I have had no negative effects.

As you have become customed to, I will share a Part 2 post in a couple if weeks time to let you know results on my skin and my final feelings of both products overall.

If you have visited G.Baldwins & Co either in-store or via the website, I would love to hear what your favourite products are?

Thanks for reading.

BEAUTY: Weleda Calendula Lotion – REVIEW

Last but by no means least here’s my Part1 review of the Weleda Calendula lotion from their baby range.

I was given the opportunity to become more familiar with the brand Weleda through my attendance at the #midsblogmeet.

We were all given sample sized lotions in a goodie bag together with a Pomegranate Day Creams (not yet used, plan to soon).

I used the Calendula lotion mostly on mini-me and what was left on myself! We used every little drop!

My mini me absolutely loves this body lotion her comment to me this week was “mommy I like this cream, it smells like brueberries, oranges and ‘ogurt” which translates to a win – As she happens to love eating blueberries, oranges and yogurts!

The lotion is certified natural and contains no nasties – no synthetic preservatives, fragrance, colours and is free from raw materials derived from mineral oil.

The lotion contains extracts of the flower Calendula together with Chamomile, organic Sesame and Almond Oil. Calendula is known for providing healing and soothing properties which for mini me is great for her young skin and for me great too for my somewhat troublesome skin (I love the summer and sunshine, my skin doesn’t I’m prone to suffering with awful prickly heat).

Whilst I know I can purchase the lotion online, to be honest I was too eager to wait for delivery – so searched the Weleda website to see whether locally I could purchase the lotion – yes you guessed it trusty Boots came to the rescue.

So your aware not every Boots store sells the Weleda line, so to get hold of more of the product line it’s best to purchase from the website.

I bought the Calendula lotion at a cost of £7.95 however at the moment they have a 2 for £12 offer on in Boots which encouraged me to try/buy the Calendula shampoo and body wash too!

After some of my day spent gardening yesterday, I couldnt wait to have a shower by the evening to unwind and also as an excuse to use the body wash, like the lotion it has a creamy consistency, and lathers up really nicely, with the same scent as the lotion.

The lotion feels medium weight in consistency – by this I mean it’s not too runny or watery.  It melts into the skin when applied, it leaves my skin feeling moistured and hydrated!  The after feel on hands is non sticky.

I know it’s early days I really do like these products purely because I know there natural, safe and unharmful for my mini-me’s skin as she has quite sensitive skin like me.  It will be interesting to see how continued use treats our skin, so I will be back with an updated review soon.

I’m also interested in trying a few other of the Weleda products …. I know which ones I have on my must purchase list!

So just before I finish this post, I was presented with an excited opportunity which involves Weleda, I’m beyond super excited! Stay tuned to my twitter feed (@Naomi_sfb) on 25th June for details and a blog post shortly after will reveal all!

Have you tried Weleda products – which ones are your favourite?

*Just an FYI: This is not a sponsored post.  I was not paid, all views are my own.  Through receipt of a sample product I was not requested to blog.  I purchased the full sized products with my own cash and decided to share my delight!

BEAUTY: Spring Inspired Nails

So the clocks in the UK have gone forwards, were finally in the midst of Spring and steadily approaching summer!

I previously blogged Spring / Summer 14 Nail Colour Predictions and fancied giving this a try with my own nails.

I used the colour Pink Grapefruit by 17, which is a pink with orange undertones, this colour has been painted on all fingers except for the ring finger.

The ring finger painted with Sunshine Sparkle, as previously mentioned this nail varnish is very watery so I had to apply 3 coats.

Here’s the finished result!

What do you think? What are your top nail colour picks now we are finally in the midst of Spring?

Thanks for reading – Toodles!

BEAUTY: A few bargain beauty purchases

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a good bargain.

In my capacity as party planning extraordinaire a few weeks ago for my mini-me’s birthday, I went on the hunt for bags of sweets and suitable treats that I could fill party bags with, so I popped into Poundland.

Now I know I’m not the first blogger to share with you that Poundland sell some branded beauty products, as I myself have read on other blogs that Poundland does hold a somewhat mixed selection, with a possibility of finding a good quality branded item here and there dependant on the store visited.

I did …. Look what I found!

All items come contained with a cellophane style bag, so theres no evidence of them being store rejects. I removed the bags for the pictures.

I haven’t yet tested the eyeshadow, although on the back of the packaging it has tips on where to place certain colours around your eyes.

The nail colours I have tried out and have mixed opinions on.

I picked up three colours:

Revlon, Sunshine Sparkle – watery consistency which needs two may be three coats, and I don’t really like the finish or think it suits my skin tone all that well

Rimmell, Right Royal Red – it has a gel like consistency with a one coat and your done, my favourite colour of the bunch.

Rimmell, True Blue – same as above with a gel like consistency with one coat full coverage colour.

So my verdict is for £4, four branded beauty items I’m relatively happy with my choices.

Have you got any bargain beauty purchses to share? I would love to hear them….

Thanks for reading ….TTFN!

LIFESTYLE: When life gets in the way …

…which it does for all of us.

Five days has elapsed since I wrote my last post. As I banned myself from eating cake during Lent, maybe it’s sent me into to some mini trauma or shock and disturbed my blogging flow? Whatever the reason I’m back now!

So I’m not going to make a whole load of excuses about why I couldn’t blog … I’ll save that for tweets on Twitter. Here where I share what I have been up to and what has kept me away from the blogsphere….

I’ll start at the beginning of the month. We celebrated my mini-me’s birthday, she is another year older… Wow how time flies. I will never forget the day she was born. We celebrated by holding her a good old kids party with friends and family. It was held at one of those indoor play centres or playbarns. You know the ones where children run around and throw themselves around and drag their poor parents with them, mini-me was said child and Husb and I were poor parents.

We all had a thoroughly good time!

Then it was back to work with a bang! But a bit of window shopping in between, I popped into M&S during one of my rare lunch breaks and spied Emma Bridgewater beauty goodies …. Roll on PAYDAY!

Then fast forward to last weekend where in my part of the UK we saw the start of spring weather and we celebrated my dad’s birthday. We took my dad for a family meal at Red Peppers restaurant which serves Mediterranean food. My dad and I are both very fussy eaters and are both pescatarian so choosing where to eat was a tiny mission. Although pleased to say he enjoyed the meal.

In amongst all of this I have been trying to juggle being mom, wife and employed working person, to keep me sane I add a bit of gym twice a week and my ashtanga Yoga class once a week!

For winding down during the evenings lots of relaxing candles, home facials and relaxing baths….

Lastly I struggled last week with my no cake for lent ban I have a sweet tooth and indulged in some Haribo Jelly babies…. I LOVE these… No judgement 🙂

So the husbands birthday is next week, and Mother’s Day at the end of the month ….so more celebrations and family time in store.

I hope you have all been well?

Thanks for reading. TTFN!

Tag: The 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

So quite shamefully I have to admit I was tagged by the lovely Deborah Says Beauty nearly a month ago. Here’s were I share with you my sins of beauty…. Hmmm I suppose me over spending at a MAC counter is pretty sinful…. But oh so worth it. So here goes:

Greed: Whats your most expensive beauty item?
At the moment it’s my My Naked 3 palette read about it here! But oh how I love it so. DEFINITELY a worth while purchase the shades are super pigmented with gorgeous lasting shimmer.

Wrath: What do you have a strong / love hate relationship with?
Loreal Glam Shine Stain some days I love it especially in the colour 300 Juliet as I feel it looks great against my skin tone, others day I feel it can be quite drying and makes my lips flaky over times, also the more neutral colours on me can look a tad watery and bland on my lips.

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?
So I am a secret Dermalogica hoarder! I have used it for years and it’s kind of like my security blanket. I tend to rotate between a few staple products from their range when I feel my skin needs a good sorting out and after experimenting with other products which haven’t quite agreed with my skin. I will blog my Dermalogica recommendations soon!

Sloth: What product do you ignore the most due to laziness?
At the moment it’s blush. I don’t know why …perhaps its the weather or the very fact that I have been using and repurchasing this same shade of Sleek blush in shade sunrise for a while…. I think I need to change it up.

Pride: which product gives you the most confidence?
Definitely my NARS concealer. As I usually wear make up for my day job, on weekends I do like to let my skin breathe. So whilst I still want to look half way decent and because with an energetic mini me to tend to I don’t have the time to apply it / nor do I want to spend excessive amount of time applying makeup when I already do so on weekdays. That said concealer is my best friend and I would feel completely lost with out it. Providing I have use of this I am more than happy to face the world with my mommy ‘somewhat sleep deprived’ eye bags well and truly covered.

Lust: What item is at the top of your list?
Again its concealer …. For the reasons described above.

Envy: Which product / look looks great on other but not on you?
Eyeliner. My eyes just do not get the concept of wearing eyeliner well, I just don’t know why? That’s all.

So to spread the tag love Themakeupwhisperer, Mua by Nikki, Amuleta Beauty, Sarah Loves Makeup and by no means least Frostings and Style do fancy joining in? no pressure though here peeps (and providing you haven’t already done this tag). If you do respond to the tag I would love it if you could link your post to mine by way of comment so I can read them.
