BEAUTY: Aztec Indian Healing Clay

I’ve been like a kid with a new toy this past weekend!  ‘Playing’ with a new beauty product ….I purchased the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay.

So ok, I know, I know I’m LATE to this Bentonite clay party! Don’t judge me…

I have heard great things about this product all over the Internet-web so of course I wanted to give it go myself.
The mask comes packaged in its original powdery state, which whilst I ‘get’ it being that’s it’s a natural product….I had a momentary eye roll moment because I just wanted to get the stuff on my face without the extra faff of sourcing ‘equipment’ to mix up the concoction.

So with glass jar and plastic spoon at hand, a teaspoon of the clay powder I got to mixing this two different ways on two different occasions.

The clay powder mixed with Apple cyder vinegar:

Using the mask powder with Sainsburys Aspinalls cyder vinger, whilst I felt the mask did its job it dries almost at the same rate as your conventional pre mixed mask.  Drying time was about 15-20 mins.  The smell… Somewhat vinegary with a tinge of egg… a tad abnoctious, but doable.

The clay powder mixed with water:

Whoa! Completely difference in how my face felt and how the clay dries.  The mask gets to work instantly with drying and boy oh boy can you feel it!! It almost had for an itchy sensation for a moment.  I could feel it tightening those pores (mwah ha ha ha) which is never a bad thing.  Drying time was about 10 mins.  The smell …. Again that eggy whiff.

With the clay mask used both ways… It definetly lives up to the ‘feel your face pulsate’ claim.  It is the most strangest feeling ever, however more so intense when the clay is mixed with plain water.  I’d say if there’s a reason to buy this mask its for that party trick alone.

So did it make a difference? Yes! I’m pleased to say this is one mask I won’t be turning my back on in a hurry.  My skin feels baby soft after use and the next day is positively glowing.

There are many uses for Bentonite clay – it’s widely known for its healing properties and ability to remove toxins.  There are multiple uses for it, which I’m steadily reading up and learning about.

So lastly to conclude I’m sure you’ve guessed I love this mask, I picked mine up on Amazon for just under £10, however I’m sure it’s also available from most other good beauty web stores.

Have you tried Aztec secret Indian healing clay, if so how have you used it and what where your results?

Feel free to share!

FACE: Ready for Autumn? Laura Mercier Lip Crayon Review

Has anyone noticed its started getting a little chilly in the UK?

It’s safe to say we’ve had a pretty awesome summer in the UK this year, whilst we might still be in the midst the summer – the seasons are starting to change?

By 9pm darkness is starting to creep in. It’s getting a tad chiller of an evening (or is it just me that is super sensitive to feeling cold!).
I wake up super early of a morning during weekdays, and have noticed 5-6am hasn’t fully broken into full daylight – which could be the reason for my latest episodes of pressing the snooze button far too many times before peeling myself out of bed…. Autumn is coming!

My close friends know I love autumn a whole lot, because I feel it’s when of all the seasons, nature really puts on a dramatic show – picture yourself in a park on an autumn day, think leaves shedding on mass from the trees, conkers, burnt orange leaves with a warm but crisp chill to the air.

I digress…

I picked up a bargain-a-cious purchase from the SpaceNK sale recently which is going to autumn-nify me!

Laura Mercier Lip Crayon in The colour ‘Burnt Clay’.

20140815-212526-77126740.jpg

It’s not normally a colour I go for, so a bit of a tester purchase being that it wasnt overly expensive.

Ooooh I do like it…. I like it a lot.  The lip crayon gives a lasting, moisturising finish and best of all it’s not too dark which I think would have hardened the appearance of my face. The lip crayon has a lot of sheen and a pearlised appearance when applied.

Oh I forget to mention the price, a mere £4 …. Yes you heard me £4 for this little beauty…. It’s normally sold for the £16.50. Like I said earlier bargain-a-cious!

Have you tried any other Lip Crayon shades from Laura Mercier – let me know which ones are your favourite?

FACE: My SOS Skin Saviours

So my face is currently going through a situation at the moment.

I am to blame and I may as well confess I ate cake last weekend…. Yes yes I know , I know I’m supposed to be giving it up for Lent. It was a genuine mishap ….well …..not really it was the husband’s birthday last week and well I ate cake…. Erm I said that already didn’t I, Two slices of the most gorgeous. chocolate. cake. EVER!

Well being one not to dwell on the the past…. My face is having a breakout I see it as punishment for breaking my Lenten promise…. But that’ll teach me right!

So in a bid to avoid cake until the end of lent and rescue my face…. I will be re-introducing my good old Dermalogica favourites…

I absolutely love Dermalogica products they are a tad pricey BUT so worth it and definitely do help my skin to rebalance again.

So here’s my newly adjusted morning face skincare routine:

1. Vichy Eau Thermale – used before cleansing to clean my skin
2. Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser- used next in the routine, it’s great for dealing with my congested and oily skin.
3. Dermalogica Multi Active Toner- used after cleansing, and before applying face and eye cream.
4. REN Keep Young And Beautiful Anti – Aging Eye Cream – I love this eye cream it minimises and soften under eye wrinkles.
5. Simple Light Moisturiser – great light weight moisturiser, which helps to prevent my face becoming too oily throughout the day under makeup.

And my evening face skincare routine:

Above products used in sequenced order below:
1. Vichy Eau Thermale – used before cleansing to clean my skin
2. Simple Eye Makeup Remover – to remove eye makeup with a cotton pad.
3. Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser – used next in the routine, it’s great for dealing with my congested and oily skin.
4. Dermalogica Multi Active Toner – used after cleansing, and before applying face and eye cream.
5. REN Keep Young And Beautiful Anti – Aging Eye Cream (not shown but included in my evening routine).
6. Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream.
7. Skin Hydrating Masque ( 2 – 3 times per week)

I must not forget and begin conscious of what I put on my skin, what’s equally important is that I drink water …. As quite frankly over time I have becoming quite slack in that department. I am trying to drink at least 1.5 – 2 litres per day… I have since started and it really does make me feel a lot better and less sluggish, especially with early morning starts.

I am sure in a matter of a few weeks my face will be back to normal …. Gosh I sound so vain! Lol

Have you tried Dermalogica skin care products…. Which ones are your favorites?
